This upper portion of the Hobnail Tom Trail offers a rigorous route that follows the southern edge of the Scapegoat Massif beneath towering cliff walls. The trail can be found easily as far as Cabin Creek. However, the route from this point onward is poorly marked; expect to use a map and compass on the way into the Dry Fork drainage. Mountain goats are occasionally seen among the cliffs above the trail, and elk may also be spotted in the headwaters of Cabin Creek.
