This spur trail climbs steeply up the sloping west wall of Haystack Mountain to reach its lofty summit, which commands sweeping views including the southern marches of the Chinese Wall. The trail is maintained primarily by the efforts of outfitters and guides, who keep the trail bed clear of logs and other debris. This route offers the best observation point in the entire White River valley and makes a good day trip for travelers visiting the area for an extended period of time.
