This trail runs from Pentagon Cabin on the Spotted Bear River Trail to the high pass at the southern terminus of the Trilobite Range Trail.
The current trail does not have a particular abundance of switchbacks, so it is hard to see how the pass got its name. It does provide access to the very foot of some of the most spectacular peaks in the area, and the pass itself is a side trip for many travelers visiting the Spotted Bear valley.
