This trail was AMAZING! It was an easy trail to hike, there was a breeze and some shade. (Temps in the 90's) I thought the views of the west side of the pass of the mountains and valleys couldn't get any prettier, but I was so wrong. With beautiful blue skies, we saw all the waterfalls after we crossed the pass. Then, the waterfalls turned to a rushing river through the gorge. My favorite trail out of all the trails we hiked in Glacier. Do not miss this trail!
The trailhead was hard to find as it was not clearly marked comming down on GTS road. Once on a trail, we didn't find it any more difficult than any other trails we did in Glaciers. We saw mountain goats way above our heads on the opposite slopes, and a grizzly comming down to the streem below us. Plently of huccleberries in season!
This hike was not as difficult as I expected. We were fogged in almost the whole hike, but if it had been sunny, the views would have been awesome. The wildflowers were abundant, and we saw a lot of wildlife. Great hike for most levels of hikers, just check the weather first.
this is a beautiful hike, although i have encountered bad weather a couple of the times i've done it. during huckleberry season, the end of the trail (near sunrift gorge) has lots!
