A day hike (when river levels are low enough to ford) or backpack from US 2. Harrison Lake is a seldom-visited, fairly large lake that sits among forested foothills near West Glacier. It is accessible via ford from US 2 or by hiking the South Boundary Trail northeast from West Glacier. The hike ascends a gentle valley that burned during 2003 to reach the foot of the lake and then follows its western shore.
Occasional avalanche chutes have made clearings from which Loneman Mountain and Mount Thompson can be viewed across the lake. The trail reaches its terminus at the head of the lake, which is not particularly noted for its fishing.
