This is a very rugged hike, with lots of elevation changes, and some very steep climbs, both up and down, some very steep rock and boulder fields. When you finally reach these two peaks, the views are incredible. There are some pocket lakes that can be seen from the ridgeline on the way from Elkhorn Peak over to Crow Peak...looked like some great area around them to backpack into and camp! On the hike to the old iron mine, before you start the really tough part of this hike, I had a herd of well over 50 Elk running all around me in the trees, on both sides of me, for well over a quarter mile section of hiking...incredible!!!
