This is a day hike or short backpacking trip to a lake-filled basin, and a good choice for a family outing. From the trailhead follow an old jeep road through the Daphne Lode patented mining claims past several cabins.About half a mile up this road at Rock Creek Falls is the closure area boundary. No motorized vehicles are allowed beyond this point except for snowmobiles. From this point, the jeep road is maintained as Rock Creek Trail 53.

This has got to be one of the most amazing hikes in Montana. Its kinda hard but worth it. Dont be discouraged by the distant views of the mountain, or the false summits. When you reach the top its all worth it.
