An extended backpacking adventure, one of your best chances for solitude and a true wilderness experience in Montana. Many trails in Glacier Park are heavily used. Others receive surprisingly little use, although they host as many back-country rewards. The Nyack Loop is an excellent example of the latter. Keep in mind, though, that if you plan to ford the river to access the Nyack Creek and Coal Creek Trailheads, you have to wait until August to take this trip. The trail follows Nyack Creek (named after Nyack Flats on the west side of the river) as it flows over a gorgeous falls and colorful bedrock. Mount Stimson, an incredible hulk of a mountain, dominates the landscape for much of the hike.
