Despite its crowded feel (or maybe because of it), Patapsco Valley State Park (PVSP) is a logical camping destination for families, especially those with little kids. The reason is simple: if it doesn’t work out, you can easily pack up and make the short trip home. Another attraction for people in a similar situation is that they can hop into the car and pick up any forgotten supplies in nearby towns. To enjoy all the features that make PVSP so attractive, you might find that you’ll have to head south toward the Hilton, Avalon, Orange Grove, and Glen Artney areas. Once that easy trip is complete (and you can do it by floating down the river), there’s a ton to do: boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking, and nature and history programs put on by park rangers. In short, a place where kids (and their parents) can keep themselves happily entertained for days.
