In this more mountainous, wooded location, you won’t be near the reservoir itself, but you will have easy access to the pristine forest. The campsites located here provide a year-round and inexpensive alternative to New Germany State Park. Plus, compared to New Germany, the Savage River sites give a more back-country, remote feel to your camping experience. Campsites in this section are spread along Westernport Road in the Elk Lick Area, along the Poplar Lick Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Trail heading south toward Savage River Road and the reservoir, and the small Blue Lick section off Lower New Germany Road near Blue Lick Run.
