For years Speckled Mountain, a large but unassuming peak on Maine’s western border, has been one of the best-kept secrets in the White Mountains. Each year, however, more and more people are discovering the subtle beauty of its long, open ridges, its thickly forested slopes, and its cool, cascading brooks. This loop visits the most scenic of Speckled Mountain’s features, including the rocky summit of Blueberry Mountain, and, with one brief exception, traverses gradual terrain to complete a great circuit any time of the year.
