Stowe Pinnacle gives a big reward for a relatively small effort. It is a favorite among Stowe locals, with and without dogs. It is best to go midweek, especially if your dog does not have impeccable social skills. Located in C.C. Putnam State Forest, the trail is an excellent half-day hike. Although there is not much water on the route, most of the hike is shaded, which makes it a good choice on a warm day.

Great trail, relentlessly uphill. Can be icy in shoulder seasons. Views are mediocre until you reach the top, then the view is just plain spectacular. This type of view normally takes much longer to achieve. Ideal morning or afternoon 1/2 day hike!
