Don’t be thrown by the fact that this double loop brushes by a campground, a picnic area, and a sports field. That’s just an iota of the habitat diversity, from a pretty beaver pond to a densely forested pine swamp, that has to be experienced to truly be believed. Better still, for most of the way you’ll be out on your own, deep in a rugged wilderness environment of craggy ridges, boggy streams, rolling hills— including the county’s highest point—and farreaching views.
