Short but sweet with a few reaches of slow water and the rest a whitewater treat. The Hoosic River is a shallow, energetic stream that is best run in spring or at other times when the water is up.
The streambed is often cobbles, which make running at low-normal flow scratchy and hard on equipment. When the water is right, however, this is a fun river that has some calm stretches and lots of uniform Class I rapids. On the Hoosey, as it is affectionately called, canoes are fun and kayaks are a blast.
