A very pleasant loop hike that includes the summit of Mount Williams and a scenic journey along the path of the original summit road up Mount Greylock. The Appalachian Trail (AT) has crossed the summit of Mount Williams north of Mount Greylock for many years. Despite this fact, the mountain was visited infrequently because the trail system near the mountain didn’t visit any other interesting nearby places. Recently the Department of Environmental Management (DEM) created a really nice loop hike that includes Mount Williams, sections of the old summit carriage road, and even an old burned out cabin.
