The abandoned colonial settlement of Leffingwell is the centerpiece of this property, which boasts a 17-acre field loaded with wildlife and butterflies, while stone walls and cellar holes are found in the adjacent forest. Many of the most interesting places to visit in the Berkshires are so well known that everyone, even the casual tourist, has at least heard of them. But other spots are still best known only to the local population. Such is the case with Questing and its colonial settlement called Leffingwell. In the nearby village of Mill River people talk about Leffingwell Hill as they sit on the porch of the General Store, but outside the village, this historic place is long forgotten. You can rediscover Leffingwell by following the trail through land now called Questing and journey back to a time now centuries past.
