The contiguous Bomoseen and Half Moon Pond state parks are essentially a string of ponds, marshlands, and abandoned quarry sites, all interconnected by several hiking trails ranging in length from 0.3 mile to 4.5 miles. From the sheltered enclave of Half Moon Pond, you could hike the Half Moon Pond Trail to the Glen Lake Trail, follow this through Beaver Meadow, and pass Moscow Pond to Glen Lake. From Glen Lake, the Slate History Trail will bring you to Lake Bomoseen. The campground at Half Moon Pond State Park is divided into two areas along either side of the pond. The loop with sites 1 through 35 is off to the left as you enter the camping area, and the rest of the sites, 36 through 60, are off to the right. Both sides of the campground have sites perched right on the shore of Half Moon Pond. These are the best sites.
