This easy hike takes you along Acadia’s distinct pink-granite coastline, bringing you to Thunder Hole, where you may hear a reverberating boom as the surf crashes against a rocky chasm; Otter Cliff, where you may see rock climbers on the 60-foot precipice; and Otter Point, where you may catch a colorful sunset. The sounds of the ocean and the views of rocky cliffs and pink-granite shoreline are never far from Ocean Path. At Thunder Hole, halfway along the path, when the conditions are just right, the surf crashes through rocky chasms with a thunderous roar. And at Otter Point, at trail’s end, the sound of a buoy ringing fills the air.

Spectacular views of rocky shores on Frenchman Bay. Wonderful overlooks from an easy path.
