This trail features dramatic pink granite cliffs along the shoreline and the opportunity to explore tidal pools and mud flats at low tide. There is a chemical toilet at the trailhead. Although the hard-packed surface on the first 0.25 mile of the trail allows easy access to visitors with wheelchairs and baby strollers, subsequent sections can provide route-finding challenges, especially if you take shortcuts across mud flats, as we discovered one day.

The Ship Harbor Trail is a great walk for less experienced hikers with a beautiful view of the ocean and some of the best rock scrambling around. My family and I have been doing it for more than 10 years!
