This loop takes you up almost vertically from the shore of Long Pond, along a series of spectacular stone steps on the Perpendicular Trail, and down the Mansell Mountain Trail. One of the two summits making up what’s known collectively as Western Mountain, the 949-foot Mansell is wooded, but two overlooks on this hike provide good views.

this was a wonderful hike. I was amazed at how much work went into making this trail. THere are probably 500 stone stairs cut out of the rock to help in this hike. Scenery is beautiful hard to get lost on this one.
