The hike to 681-foot Acadia Mountain follows one of the older trails in the park and leads to a beautiful outlook of Somes Sound and toward nearby Norumbega and Beech Mountains. Another good option is a short side trip to Man -o- War Brook, named for the French and British warships of the 1700s that came to get drinkable water where the brook cascades into Somes Sound.

I've hiked this trail twice and combined with the Flying Mountain that intersects with this one you can put together one of the best hikes in Acadia. Views are great and sweeping. The terrain is rocky like most other Acadia trails. Some large boulders to climb but not bad even if you have some fear of heights. Bring you camera and you will not be disappointed.

This was a wonderful hike! The trip down can be a little tricky, but not bad. The hike is well worth the views you will see from the top!

A spectacular trail! It has it all--great bouldering, not technically difficult, fantastic views, exhilerating and you can be back in town for lunch!
