Moderate to challenging trail with some great views. Some may underestimate the trail if you choose to go a different route from the Jordan Pond House. Most of the trail is moderate with some challenging points in climbing up/down rocks.
Great trail / **** / I would give it five starts but I hiked it [five summits: Pemetic, Penobscot, Sargent, North & South Bubble] in a rain storm with near zero visibility. The Penobscot Mountain Trail is now [August 2008] called Spring Trail, the original name. If you happen to hike these exposed summits in the rain, going up is safe and easy; beware of coming down. It is quite easy to slip with potentially very serious consequences. I need to go back and do these trails on a nice, clear fall day.
