Hiking Maryland & Delaware

My 7 year old son and I drove down and spent about 3 hours on the trails. The main loop was closed because of a beaver dam, but it was easy to find our way from the chestnut tree to a portion of the trail beyond the dam so that we were able to hike almost the entire course. We saw no one the entire day.
Big woods and nicely groomed trails. Lots of bird activity. There is a place to sign in and see what other people record what they have seen. The Swamp trail is cutoff by a huge beaver dam. I managed to get around it but it was very muddy in spots. The park authorities do not recommend this but I was interested in the full trail when I started. The dam was definately the highlight at about 3 in the afternoon. An earlier time recommended for birding activity.
