An easy loop that meanders in and out of new and mature woods and cornfields along several creeks in the Seneca Creek drainage. A good chance of seeing deer and other wildlife. Special considerations: The trails in the system were built largely by members of area mountain bicycling and equestrian organizations and are maintained cooperatively. Trail use guidelines call for cyclists to yield to hikers, but it is often easier for a hiker to step aside to allow an oncoming cyclist to pass. Be courteous. Summer months are the most popular for trail cyclists here. Trail closures are routine from mid-December to mid-March.

"A great place to hike!" It's so close to everything, but yet it seems so secluded, and so peaceful. There are shorter trails if you just want to take your time and stroll along for a less intensive hike, and there are longer trails, if you want a good workout. This time of year there are millions of red raspberries all over the Schaeffer Farm trails. There great to snack on while hiking along the trails... As for the bikers.. There were a few here and there, not so many that you have to stop all of time. I don't seem to mind them, they are very respectful and nice to others who are on the trails.

Phenomenal, well built multi-use trail. The Schaeffer Farms trails were built by mountain bikers in collaboration with MD and MoCo. The trails are suitable for other uses as well, including hiking and horseback riding. If you have no issues with "sharing" you should not have any problems.

Nice area to get lost and see wildlife but you have a good chance of becoming road kill with all the MT. Bikers. But respect that in Montgomery county most trails there are no bikes so just let it be.
