A hike through a hemlock-laurel canyon, following Lostland Run en route to the Potomac. There are stream crossings on footbridges, a waterfall, and many opportunities to view wildlife. You can lose your cares amid the hemlock and laurel along the swift Lostland Run and forget the time gazing at Cascade Falls deep in the gorge. The trail crosses the run several times, and there are several scenic falls. Special considerations: In the first mile of the hike, there are two sections of rough and rocky terrain. They are passable by hikers of most abilities, but they make for slow going for a time.
