We tried to do this hike (sort of) in May 2016. Arriving at the entrance to the state forest we found a sign that said the forest and all the trails were closed due to the dam renovation. The sign did not say how long D.A.R. would be closed, but if you're planning on doing this hike anytime during 2016, I'd check first before driving to the trailhead.
