Real nice trail...but it fools you with false summits which can make if tun....have good hiking boots, especially because it can be wet and slippery, especially going down... and this trail is long, and it never lets up as far as climbing. No level 'breaks' on this trail! Getting to the top requires some serious stamina; but if you cant make the top, there are plenty of vista points above the treeline. Clouds roll in and out fast, so be patient and the good views will be there. Overall an excellent, moderate to strenous trail!

Trail was in good condition. We had great weather (Dec. 1) as there was no wind and it was about 5-10 degrees. There was packed snow the majority of the way up so those hiking in just boots should be okay for about 2/3 of the trail. Will hike again in a few months, maybe even camp for a few days.

Very nice trail! The view was exceptionnal and the trail not too difficult. We also take the north way on the summit, this way are tought! The montain was great, we have a good time. Stephane,

Nice trail, though I agree that it is well travelled and worn. Challenging incline with rewarding vistas. The visibility at the top wasn't great that day. We encountered some hail and fog up there. The next day we climbed the nearby Forehead peak. The Wampahoofus trail leading to that peak was full of exciting boulder climbs with a final sheer, windy scramble to the top. Highly recommended.

Sunset ridge is a nice trail, but very heavily traversed. We hiked along the ridge to the "forehead" and then decended by Maple Ridge. This trail was far nicer than Sunset, quite long and steep in parts, some sheer scrambling which would be tough when wet, but was really nice on a clear day. The views along the ridge from the chin to the forehead are spectacular, but watch out for the high winds and cold air. A very nice day hike.
