Amazing views and overall awesome trail. You can also leave the main trail and check out many of the side trails. I went during peak weekend last year and will be going back again this year!
We took Blue (Castle Point) trail from Lake Minnewaska - lovely views! Not hard, just long, on carriage trails. We took Green carriage trail on the return (passing by but skipping the Falls); it was just shady and pleasant, no great views. Advice: bring towels and bathing suits and swim both lakes - wish we had!
absolutely breathtaking. it is a relatively easy hike -- not a lot of climbing because you are walking on carriage trails although it is very long -- but the lakes, vistas and outcroppings are truly stunning. we took the detour to the waterfall (which involves more strenuous hiking) but it was barely a trickle of water because it was autumn. it was still interesting. we did spot a snake with a frog in its mouth! the vibrant and colorful leaves also added to the magic of the moment. this was, by far, one of the best hikes we've ever done. it is highly recommended!
