This coast, arguably some of the most remote mainland shoreline on Lake Michigan, has a way of growing on you. A feeling of spaciousness pervades this place--a sense that you could wander these shores for days, and there would always be another wave-washed point and soul-satisfying solitude ahead. An immense swath of nearly 20 miles of public shoreline brackets Gould City Township Park. Except for a small private section just west of Birch Point, the stretch from Hughes Point in the west to several miles north of the mouth of the Crow River is state forest.
