This hike is not for folks who have a fear of heights. Please read this hike description before you decide whether this trail is right for you. That’s good advice for all of the hikes in the book (and in general), but it’s more applicable for Hach-Otis State Nature Preserve than for most other trails. Warnings aside, this spot offers some of the most breathtaking views in northeast Ohio. To complete the loops in a clockwise fashion, follow the wooden boardwalk, where you have hardwood trees for company; soon after the boardwalk ends, you’ll meet a few hemlocks. As you continue on a dirt trail, you’ll start to notice how busy this corridor is with a variety of birds. You may catch a glimpse of a pretty little gully on the property’s northern border; you will almost certainly encounter some of the many birds that criss-cross the woods.
