A local favorite, this short hike climbs high to an exposed rocky cliff and offers the best panoramic view of the Wisconsin River Valley you’re going to find. Ferry Bluff features a memorable view of the Wisconsin River Valley. Two hundred feet above the river, a wide sandstone ledge offers broad vistas, stretching to Blue Mounds, 15 miles to the south, and beyond. Moses and Persis Laws operated a ferry boat landing near the base of the bluff during the late 1800s. Today it is a well-known canoe landing, and the short hike to the bluff -top vistas is a popular one.

We loved this trail. It is a great starter for a day of hiking. The trail is out and back but the trail to the bluff wanders near the base of the sandstone bluff to the right and a feeder creek/small river on the left. The view from the bluff is breath taking and side hikes out to the river flats and through the woods are enjoyable. As mentioned this hike is about 1.5 miles out and back but a great starter for a day of hiking. I give this four stars due to the views which are broad and panaramic (sp?) of the river.
