LaSalle Falls

A short hike with a moderate climb through some pristine forest leads to a thundering cascade along the wild and scenic Pine River. As you emerge from your car at the LaSalle Falls trailhead, the first thing you notice is the woods, a mixture of conifers and hardwoods. They are a relief for the eyes after driving in through miles of pine plantations and logging debris. Soon you realize that there is a complete lack of road noise in the background. This walk takes you through a state-designated Wild and Scenic River Corridor. A sign at the small parking area announces the river project and provides a map of the trail. Begin by walking north from the parking area. Constructed wood-beam steps announce the beginning of a short ascent, and at mile 0.5 you pass a bench and a small creek.
