Visitors come to Duluth for many reasons. Some are awed by the city and harbor lights as they descend into Duluth at night from a high ridge overlooking Lake Superior. Others look forward to birding on Park Point or Hawk’s Ridge, while still others gather near shore to watch international ships enter the famous harbor.
Park Point is a narrow, 9-mile-long, partially forested, sometimes grassy stretch of sand with a long, interesting, controversy-filled history. It’s a walk along a sandy beach where unsalted waves become giants as they’re pushed to shore by ambitious winds.
