Crow-Hassan Park offers a full range of natural amenities, from expansive, rolling prairielike grasslands above the river valley to pockets of oaks and other hardwoods scattered along trails that wind out and back along the Crow River and ultimately return to the parking lot. When I hiked this park, the park map was apparently not up-to-date, since trails designated as hiking-only were also being used as horse trails. Whether this is new policy or not, I’m unsure, but each trail intersection is well marked with a hiker or horse icon labeling the appropriate use.

The google maps icon is wrong, the trail follows the Mississippi River. We started in downtown Minneapolis, catching the Light Rail Trail from the Metrodome and ending at 50th Street / Minnehaha Park. From the Park, we hooked up on the Mississippi River Gorge Bike Trail and hiked 7 miles back to our car park. Gorgeous hiking, beautiful neighborhoods along the route. Google maps is useful to plot the route or print the topos one section at a time on trails.com Highly recommended hike.
