Two short scenic hikes with views of surrounding hills and Lake Superior. While these two hikes share a common starting point, they each have their own unique pleasures. The shorter Oberg loop, the more popular of the two, seems to have overlooks at every couple of steps, as the trail circles the peak. The longer Leveaux trail has more solitude, wilderness, and what might be a muckier trail, as well as a couple of panoramic overlooks of its own. Both of these trails are in the Superior National Forest, which means no facilities, just no-frills hiking. Special attractions: Overlooks galore and a picnic table atop Oberg.

We found these two hikes to be fairly easy and very nice. Oberg has views all around the mountaintop and Leveaux not as many but still very nice. Leveaux was not at all mucky when we went on it during a rainy week in late July. Well worth it to do both in the same day from the same parking spot.
