A brief walk into the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps at the old state nursery. The self-guided Old Nursery Nature Trail is a 1.5-mile loop through the remains of a seven hundred-bed tree nursery area supplied state and private planting efforts in the early 1900s. The largest appeal of this quiet area is the forest, but the rich history preserved here receives the most attention. On the south side of CR 203, just east of the trailhead, is the Ralph MacMullan Center, built by Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) troops in the 1920s. This CCC museum site contains historic buildings, a fire tower, and other displays. Special attractions: Human and natural history.
