The star of this show is the big, bald face for which the park is named— Stone Mountain. The 600-foot granite dome is so conspicuously colossal, you just feel compelled to stare at it, want to photograph it, and, of course, feel drawn to hike up to its summit. In addition to the immense beauty of Stone Mountain, the 14,400-acre park has trout streams and hiking trails, a campground and picnic area, and a long cultural history on display at the Hutchinson Homestead. Sitting right under the massive dome, the homestead has a self-guiding trail that passes by a historic log cabin, barn, blacksmith shop, and other remnants of a nineteenth-century farm.

Absolutely fantastic views from atop the mountain. Planning on spending the whole day in order to have time to relax and enjoy. The trick is to leave the marked trail every now and then to reach the cliff areas of the mountain.
