Crowders Mountain State Park is a dog’s mecca. Located so closely to Charlotte, the state’s largest city, the park offers a green oasis, a much-needed forest setting for city dwellers—both the human and canine kind.
On any given weekend during the year the many wooded park trails are filled with hikers and their dogs getting a bit of fresh air, mountain scenery, and outdoor exercise. Sitting in the state’s foothills, at the edge of the western mountain region, the entrance to Crowders Mountain State Park sits at an altitude of about 900 feet, but its trails climb to commanding viewpoints of nearly 2000 feet.
