Waterrock Knob is a short trail that seems twice as long as it is, thanks to the steep elevation gain, but the scenery is worth the workout. This is one only for hardy dogs who can climb and hop up and across large rocks. If done in the same day as the Richland Balsam Nature Trail Loop, located 20 miles farther north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, it is a great way to see the scenic, high-elevation area of the parkway and get a good leg stretch for you and the dogs.
