Jenkins Meadow epitomizes the wilderness experience. You might not get that impression out of the gate, though. The trail starts with a quick climb, aided by steps and a rustic handrail. Take a good look because that’s the last you’ll see of such niceties. From here, the trail ascends quickly on a narrow path that’s frequently off-camber. It’s a long drop on your right, though the mountain laurel will break your fall before much damage is done.

A short hike, but very rough because of the continuously climb from the start. Jenkins Meadow is no longer a meadow because the tree canopy has all but closed off the ground below. The hike was a great work out either way.
