I walked into the Wilson Creek Visitor Center just south of Mortimer (which is essentially comprised of Betsy’s Country Store) and asked for the easiest, shortest trail that would get me to a waterfall. The woman on duty looked up the road and pointed, “There.” “There” was the new parking area to accommodate the hordes of folks who make the trek to Harper Creek Falls. (“It’s an easy hike to the falls with a four-year-old,” the woman at the center told me.) Of all the falls in Wilson Creek, Harper Creek may be the most visited. In part, that’s because it’s a relatively easy 1.2-mile hike in.
