One thing you may notice about the Sauratown Trail, a 22.2-mile path developed in the 1990s by local equestrians, is horses apparently don’t need to be coddled by their trails nearly as much as we humans do. They’re fine with twigs branches, rocks, small limbs, and even mature hardwood trunks scattered along the way. And a clearly definable path isn’t a requisite either. A white blaze placed at random every now and then appears ideal in equestrian way-finding. And therein lies the allure of the Sauratown Trail.
