The well-built Saunders-Monticello Trail allows Monticello visitors to augment a trip to Thomas Jefferson’s famous home with an amble along the hillside of Carters Mountain. However, the path’s wide gravel surface and winding boardwalks are most frequented by locals out for a pleasant stroll or invigorating jog. Newer singletrack trails accessible from the Kemper Park trailhead allow you to expand your visit with a secluded climb among towering oaks and yellow poplars.

Nice trail but popular with mountain bikers, keep alert. Some nice ups and downs but generally an easy trail.
