Rivanna Trail is a valued recreational resource for Charlottesville residents, but it’s somewhat doubtful that many make the complete 20-mile loop. Fortunately, the ring trail passes numerous access points as it wends its way through parks and suburbs, so it’s easy to customize an end-to-end or out-and-back that suits you. I've recommended three such hikes here.

There are 3 hiking trails of various lengths, 2 are basically flat and one has many ups and downs that follow the lake. Overall, nice park to hike even with kids. Park is usually not busy. There is now an entrance fee of $2 that you pay at the office.
