Though not long, the trail at Bush Mill Stream is a valued resource for denizens of Virginia’s Northern Neck. Bring binoculars for birdwatching or a picnic lunch to enjoy on your leisurely descent through mixed forest to the marshy banks of the preserve’s namesake Chesapeake Bay tributary.

It was a beautiful, crisp day and it was a wonderful walk. I walked the entire trail, watched the ducks float along and enjoyed it so much. I truly recommend this trail.

Beautiful day! The trail is well-marked, well maintained. Some small hills but overall not difficult. The trail is a full five miles and you can only leave it by doubling back or finishing it to the end. Great views of the lake and lots of bridges crossing water. Shady most of the way.
