Crump Park is a window into Henrico County’s past, often overshadowed by the county’s ongoing suburban boom. Admittedly, the park’s trails are secondary to its historical resources, but they are a welcome addition. You can step back to 1860 at Meadow Farm Museum and stretch your legs in the adjacent woods. And while you’re in the neighborhood, take the opportunity to drop by other sites of historic interest just down the road.

I went with my wife yesterday and we did the whole CMT Trail around Bear Creek Lake. We went about 12 miles and really enjoyed ourselves. Very clean and very pretty. A really good basic work out. Not much technical just alot of fun. A really good Afternoon of Mountain Biking.

This is a fine hike if you're with kids who aren't into hiking because it's not the least bit challenging, but don't expect much in the way of views. The park itself is well maintained and offers a lot of amenities (bathrooms, a beach, concessions), but the trails around the lake aren't particularly spectacular- they meander and wind around, but I felt like I was on a treadmill just going through the motions rather than actually trying to enjoy myself. I'm sure that if you're looking for hiking, you can find better hikes in this part of VA. But if you're going to Bear Creek Lake State Park to visit the lake and beach, this hike is an ok add-on to a day in the outdoors.
