One of the most impressive rock wall–encircled vista spots on the Parkway, this is the perfect place to consider the impact of air pollution on the Southern Appalachians. This short loop dramatically overlooks the Arnold Valley and the upper slopes of the 2,450-acre Thunder Ridge Wilderness Area. It’s an even shorter and easier hike to the viewpoint if you return the way you came. The Appalachian Trail through the wilderness provides a longer route.
