Hawk is a small campground on the western slope of Great North Mountain. The George Washington National Forest lies on the West Virginia/ Virginia border, and encompasses more than 100,000 acres of forested land in West Virginia. From an easy walk around Rockcliff Lake to multi-day backpacks, the National Forest offers hiking opportunities for any ability. The trails of the National Forest meander along the banks of slow moving streams and under canopies of dense rhododendron. They offer magnificent vistas from rock outcrops. In addition to hiking, the George Washington National Forest offers a host of other recreational activities, including camping, canoeing, mountain biking, hunting, and fishing. Special attractions: A quiet, remote place, perfect for a peaceful retreat.
