Seneca Rocks Trail leads to a massive rock face rising almost a thousand feet above the Potomac River. The sandstone “fin” of Seneca Rocks soars high above the clear, fast flowing South Fork Branch of the Potomac River in the Spruce Knob–Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area. The river is a favorite for both anglers and paddlers. Special attractions: This short trail climbs to a high observation deck on Seneca Rocks.

This trail has about 900' of elevation gain to a very nice observation platform with a great view of the valley below.

Great day hike. Easy enough for the family. Great views with a small observation deck at the top.

Great trail!! Significant effort to get to the top, but well worth it! A beautiful view all over the valley and surrounding mountains. Camp at the Forest Service campground - Seneca Shadows and walk to the trail as well as downtown Seneca Rocks and a great swimming hole. This place has it all!! Best of all, no cell service anywhere!

I enjoyed this trail very much with all of its features it had to offer, for four nights five days by myself. I would defintely recommend it to anyone who is traveling near the area of Seneca Creek. I plan to return to Seneca Creek Backcountry as soon as I can to explore more of the other trails I was not able to hike during my trip.

Tough for an old guy like me on the way up but the way down was great! My dog and I loved it.
