The hike slowly gains elevation as it travels across the ridge near the tops of sandstone cliffs. Babcock State Park’s nearly 10 miles of trails take the hiker past the rocky rim of the gorge, down the creek, or around Boley Lake. Early summer finds both Catawba and Rosebay rhododendron blooming in the park. Every turn leads to another vista, another wildflower, another find you’re certain is all your own. Special attractions: Clifftop views.
